Prolight has been honored with the prestigious SILVER Lighting Award at the Exterior Awards 2026 for the exceptional exterior architectural lighting design and supply of Sandblu Resort in Santorini. This major distinction reaffirms Prolight’s leading position in the field of architectural lighting and its commitment to high-aesthetic design and technical excellence.
Spanning a 20-acre amphitheatrical terrain at the foothills of Ancient Thera in Kamari, the luxury resort was designed by XKS Architects. Prolight developed a holistic exterior lighting scheme that seamlessly integrates into the contemporary Cycladic architecture and the dramatic natural landscape.
The design focuses on highlighting the resort’s raw materiality and geometric lines while fully respecting the island’s natural nightscape. To ensure ultimate guest comfort and visual serenity, the outdoor common areas and private courtyards feature:
- Glare-Free Illumination: Low-intensity fixtures with concealed light sources to eliminate visual clutter and maintain a calm atmosphere.
- Layered Landscape Lighting: Strategic spike fixtures integrated within the vegetation to create soft, gentle layers of light, avoiding harsh shadows.
The project combines luxury hospitality with environmental responsibility through strict technical specifications:
- State-of-the-art LED technology with a high color rendering index (CRI 90+) to naturally bring out textures.
- Warm color temperatures (2700K–3000K) that blend harmoniously with local stone and plaster.
- Advanced, fully DALI dimmable control systems across all phases, maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing the ecological footprint.
This Award celebrates a design philosophy where light is not merely functional, but an essential element that elevates the entire architectural experience.
