Art PenthouseVouliagmeni, Athens

The lighting design and supply for the Vouliagmeni Art Penthouse, on the Athenian Riviera, received international recognition at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2024.

Spanning three levels, the penthouse was envisioned by its owner as an art and design gallery, offering sweeping views over Vouliagmeni Bay. The space was formed by merging five adjacent apartments into a single residence – a complexity that shaped the entire lighting approach.

The design is built around three lighting strategies: trimless recessed and linear luminaires for ambient circulation lighting; directional track projectors to highlight the artworks; and sculptural light pieces that blur the line between luminaire and artwork.

Technical precision was central to the outcome. Custom CRI 97+ full-spectrum LEDs at 3000K were selected to render the artworks with exceptional color fidelity while maintaining a neutral architectural palette. Glare was carefully controlled through precise luminaire and beam selection, while a DALI/KNX control system enables multiple lighting scenes, preserving the desired atmosphere and allowing the artworks to remain the focal point.

Color was introduced as a final layer through dynamic luminaires seamlessly integrated into the lighting concept. A custom 20-meter flexible light installation marks the main entrance, setting the tone for the experience within.
