LIGHTING DESIGN
P. Square – A. Philippopoulou & K. Partheniou
The lighting design for the Grand Hyatt Spa is conceived to reinforce the purity of the architectural composition while cultivating an atmosphere of tranquillity and understated luxury. The design celebrates the interior’s clean geometry through the careful integration of continuous linear lighting, which subtly traces the length of the pool and establishes a strong visual axis, naturally guiding movement and perception throughout the space.
A composition of tailored uplighting accentuates the rhythm and verticality of the monochromatic Greek marble columns and surrounding walls, revealing the richness of the material while creating a refined interplay of light and shadow. This controlled contrast enhances the monumentality of the architecture without compromising the serene character essential to a wellness environment.
Introducing a deliberate counterpoint to the linear language of the space, sculptural geometric wall luminaires provide moments of visual punctuation, adding depth, texture, and architectural identity. Within the wooden seating alcoves, discreetly integrated warm lighting creates intimate retreats, balancing the cool elegance of the marble with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The resulting lighting composition establishes a harmonious dialogue between architecture, materiality, and atmosphere, enriching the spatial experience while supporting the spa’s identity as a destination for relaxation, wellbeing, and quiet sophistication.
