Lighting design and supply by PROLIGHT for Secret Garden House, a semi-subterranean residence in Paros

Secret Garden House is a summer retreat designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings in Faragas, on the southwestern side of Paros. Built on a gently sloping plot facing the sea, the residence is framed by a small olive grove to the south and a cluster of pine trees to the east, defining the site’s boundaries and orientation.

The lighting design, developed in close collaboration with the architects and the client, was integrated early in the design process to ensure a unified approach across architecture, lighting, and interior design. The main objectives included the ability to create flexible lighting scenarios through multiple layers that adapt to the users’ changing needs, the use of selected signature luminaires in the main living area (Unterlinden by Herzog & de Meuron for Artemide) and bedrooms (Demetra by Naoto Fukasawa for Artemide), and the creation of a calm, ambient atmosphere through carefully balanced contrasts in harmony with the architectural elements.

The final result reflects a contemporary Cycladic aesthetic with elegance and subtlety, fully respecting the strict budget and timeline set by the client, as the residence also serves a commercial purpose.
